Minimum Wage Requirements

Payroll Cost
Overtime Pay & Maximum Hours
Hours outside of standard work hours are considered overtime. Overtime should not exceed four hours per day for the workers. For additional hours, employees are paid:
- 125% for additional daytime working hours
- 150% for nighttime working hours. The time between 9 PM and 5 AM is considered as night working hours
- 200% if such work is performed during the weekly day of rest or during the official holidays, the employee shall, unless compensated with another day, be entitled to double the gross salary for such a day.
Maternity Leave
Pregnant employees who have worked for one year with an employer are entitled to 98 days of paid leave. During this period, the employee will receive 100% of the salary, and the employer will be responsible for this pay.
The employee can extend leave, and it should be subject to employer approval that is considered unpaid.

Sick Leave
Employees are entitled to paid sick leave for up to 182 days, which can be taken upon the presentation of a medical certificate. The pay rate for this leave varies.
For the first 21 days of leave, employees receive 100% of their salary, fully paid by the employer. From day 22 to day 35, this is reduced to 75%, still covered by the employer. Between day 36 and day 70, employees receive 50% of their salary. Finally, from day 71 to day 182, the employer provides 35% of the employee's salary.
Termination Requirements
Terminations in Oman can be complex. Compliant terminations include:
- Due to just cause
- Voluntarily by the employee
- By mutual agreement
- Unilaterally by the employer based on:
- probation period
- objective ground
- disciplinary dismissal
- performance due to unsuitability for the job
- By expiration of the contract
Notice Period
The minimum notice period is 30 days after completion of the probation period. During the probation period, the notice in Oman is 1 day.
Severance for Employees
In Oman, all employees who are terminated are entitled to severance pay. Severance pay is one month of salary per year of service.
Paid Time Off
Employees in Oman are entitled to 30 calendar days (22 business days) of paid time off (PTO) a year. PTO accrues monthly at 2.5 days per month. Employees are eligible for annual leave after six months of work. During the first six months of employment, an employee is not allowed to take time off.

Oman celebrates 6 national holidays:
- New year – 1 day
- Eid Al Adha – 3 days
- Eid Al Fitr – 3 days
- National Day – 2 day
- Al Hijra – 1 day
- Prophet day – 1 day
Onboarding
The onboarding timeline will vary depending on whether the employee is a national or requires a visa.
- Oman nationals: 5-7 business days after the MSA signature and deposit payment
- Employees requiring visa services: 30 business days after MSA signature and deposit payment.
Onboarding steps:
- The employee receives a welcome email
- The employee submits additional information to create the employment agreement (Visa process is skipped for nationals and moves directly to step 4)
- Visa process is initiated for non-nationals only
- Human Resources Experience (HRX) creates and sends the employment agreement to the employee using the provided information
- The employee reviews, downloads, and signs the agreement
- The employee completes the remaining steps of the onboarding checklist before the agreement can be countersigned
- Once Deel countersigns the agreement, the employee is officially hired.
Employment Contract Details
Contracts must be in English and can be bilingual. They must be in writing and signed by both parties.
A contract must include:
- name
- start date
- length of the employment
- job description
- termination conditions

There is no minimum probation period set in Oman, the most common period is 3 months and the maximum is 180 days.
