The Problem
Complex entity setup processes
Lloyd's List Intelligence provides business intelligence, data, and analysis on maritime trade and operations.
As a leader in a complex and regulated market, they faced challenges in expanding and managing teams across multiple locations. They explored different ways to set up entities but found it complicated, as each country had its own payroll regulations and tax requirements. Additionally, managing employee operations like leave and equipment became more complex with global growth.
Initial attempts at addressing these complexities proved inefficient, costly, and inconsistent. No provider was able to cover all of Lloyd’s List Intelligence’s needs, and juggling multiple platforms and services was not a viable option.
We just didn’t have the economies of scale, time, and resources to be able to set up entities in each of those different locations. We went with Deel because they were able to provide us with everything we needed in one platform.

The Solution
Effective market expansion with Deel
Deel EOR made Lloyd’s List Intelligence's payroll management much easier, helping them save time, money, and resources while expanding into new markets compliantly. By using Deel IT, they could provide equipment to their team more efficiently, streamlining the onboarding process and handling challenges like shipping laptops to China.
“Not having to worry about ordering monitors from one vendor, a laptop from another, and a phone and contract from yet another makes everything much simpler. It’s the whole package.” said Hetty Townsend, APAC People And Culture Business Partner at Lloyd's List Intelligence.
Lloyd’s List Intelligence also uses Deel to stay updated on international legal changes, like holiday regulations in India and health mandates in Japan. “With just me covering seven different countries, it would be very challenging to keep track of every regulation change. Having the Deel Compliance Hub updates is incredibly helpful.” Hetty noted.
